Climate Change Unit

Overview

The Financing Locally Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) programme receives funding from the Government of Kenya in partnership with the World Bank and other donors.

Objectives

  • Deliver locally-led climate resilient actions at ward level.
  • Build and strengthen the county's capacity to plan, budget, implement, monitor, evaluate and report local climate actions in partnership with communities.

Implementation runs through the National Treasury via the Program Implementation Unit (PIU), and through the county government via the County Climate Change Unit (CCCU).

Grievance Redress Mechanism

The Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) is the process through which concerns and complaints are lodged, received, investigated and resolved, or through which dispute resolution is sought and provided.

Purpose

  • Provide a systematic mechanism outlining procedures for submitting, acknowledging, investigating and resolving grievances arising from FLLoCA programme design and implementation.
  • Ensure transparency and accountability throughout design and implementation among stakeholders, including beneficiaries.
  • Resolve environmental and social grievances in project areas.
  • Promote relations between implementers, executers and beneficiaries.
  • Enhance citizen and beneficiary ownership and participation.
  • Serve as a feedback and learning mechanism to improve project outcomes.

Objective

The GRM ensures all complaints arising from the design and implementation of the proposed projects are efficiently and promptly addressed, and provides a platform for feedback and comments on proposed investment projects.
